I created this explainer video as part of our intentional learning initiative (learning for growth). Here's a brief overview of the process:

Step 1. Identifying Scope and Purpose

First, I interviewed the stakeholders to understand the scope and purpose of this project. The output was the identified purpose, target audience, format, and estimated duration of the video:

Step 2. Collecting Sources of Content

Next, I met with the subject matter experts (SMEs) to discuss the content to be covered in the video, the existing sources that can be used for content creation, and the overall flow and structure. In addition to the content shared by the SMEs, I identified additional sources both in internal and credible external resources.

Step 3. Creating the Outline

After reviewing my notes from the meetings with the stakeholders, SMEs and skimming the available sources of content, I drafted an outline for the video, discussed it with the SMEs, and had it finalized.

Step 4. Writing the Script

The next step was to create the script, arranged by scene, with the audio narration text and visuals ideas for each scene. To streamline this process, I used the Generative AI (the company's licensed Copilot), which helped me synthesize content resources (internal and external), clarify technical concepts, adjust the language of the narrative to the defined target audience, brainstorm analogies/examples, etc. After several iterations of revision, the script was finalized. I created a simple, optional quiz at the end of the quiz, which was also reviewed by the SMEs.

Step 5. Preparing the Storyboard

I prepared the storyboard using my storyboard template and the approved script.

Step 6. Video Production

Once the storyboard was approved by the SMEs, I sent it to my colleague for voiceover recording. We use AI voiceover for many e-learning courses, but for motivational videos like this one, we try to use human voiceover.

After the audio was ready, I produced the video. I developed custom 2D graphics and animations in Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. 3D animations and video footage were borrowed from company resources and stock subscription.
