Panhuman Books
Work Description
I created this website for the Introduction to Website and Web App Development (Special Problems in Learning Design and Technology - ECI 519). Originally, I used Bootstrap and Microsoft Visual Studio to create a framework for the site. After the class was over, I sought help from a web developer to create a content management system for my site, which significantly improved its functionality and usability. What started as a class assignment became my personal blog about books.
At this time, the website has a very small amount of content. I am planning to enrich it with engaging blog posts and book recommendations. Once the site has sufficient content, I will start promoting it on social media. (I have even envisaged a small budget for advertisement campaigns!) If this project gains momentum, I will try to monetize it through Amazon's associate program.
Most of the graphics published on Panhuman Books are book covers downloaded from Amazon (I am allowed to use them as a member of the associate program). Vector images have been obtained through my subscription on iStock Photography.
The site has passed all major WCAG 2.0 requirements. Due to the lack of content and promotion, the current traffic is very low. I am monitoring site activity on Google Analytics.
For the most part, this was an individual project, with a temporary involvement of my partner, who helped me move the site to the Orchard Core platform and content management system.
The work demonstrates the following skills and competencies I have mastered in code-free web development:
- Understanding of the fundamental principles of web design and user experience,
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards,
- The ability to edit vector images and other visual assets to ensure branding consistency,
- Organization of content through categorization and tagging.
