Smartloop Tutorial

Work Description
During my work at Welsh Technologies, Inc., I was exploring various chatbot-building solutions for one of our clients. This client is a marketing consultant working with small business owners. He wanted to find an easy-to-use and inexpensive platform for creating chatbots. He was planning to include such a platform in his package of digital marketing recommendations.
One of the tools I discovered was Smartloop. It's a point-and-click web-based platform for designing conversational AI. The Smartloop website has a comprehensive technical documentation, but lacks a tutorial. After I had learned the tool, used it to build a few chatbots, and trained two people on how to use it (our client and one of his clients), I decided to create a brief tutorial with Articulate Rise. I did not have any budget, but I had an opportunity to use some of my work time to pursuit this project. For contextual graphics, I primarily used screenshots and short screen recordings from Smartloop (the screen recordings were converted to GIF images). Decorative images were reused from my employer's collection of visual assets.
The tutorial is available to anyone free of charge. Its intended audience includes small businesses, start-ups, and non-profits interested in leveraging this inexpensive platform for their digital operations. I do not have any learner-related metrics or reports of participation, therefore I am unable to estimate the number of people who have used this tutorial.
This was an individual project. It took me about 6 hours to create the tutorial from start to end.
This work demonstrates the following skills and competencies I have mastered in learning design:
- Application of design techniques to reduce extraneous cognitive load (e.g. a series of GIF images instead of lengthy video demonstrations),
- Avoidance of redundant material,
- Use of simple language,
- Design of a consistent structure with bite-size modules and intuitive navigation,
- Expert-level knowledge of Articulate Rise.
